Small shield. Same tradition.
The round shield was the most common piece of war gear in the Viking Age — linden boards, a central boss, a rim, and a painted face. The Gokstad ship was found with 64 of them lining its rails, painted yellow and black. A shield said who you stood with before you ever said a word.
This one is a six-inch display shield, made by Solomon, Midgard Artistry's shield-maker. Too small to stop an axe, exactly right for a shelf, an altar, a desk, or a wall that needs a little bit of the longhouse on it.
Handmade by Solomon at Midgard Artistry. Approximately 6 inches. Display piece.
Each shield is made individually — wood, paint, and finish vary from piece to piece. Decorative only; not for combat or reenactment use.
